What are the minimum requirements for joining an OM outreach?
Each participant must be a committed Christian and have the backing of their church leaders. In most cases, 18 is the minimum age, but some Global Challenge outreaches (especially those connected to Teen Street) are open to younger teens; see www.tim.om.org for more details.
How long can I go on an outreach for?
Global Challenge outreaches range from one week to six months. Participants on the Global Action programme serve for six months - two years and there are always opportunities for those open to longer-term service.
When could I join an OM outreach?
There are Global Challenge outreaches throughout the year, particularly in the summer. Those joining longer-term normally start with one of our international ‘Global Orientation’ conferences, either in mid-January or late August.
Is OM involved in any outreaches in the UK?
Yes. OM Lifehope (based in the Midlands) and OM Turning Point (London) run several short-term mission events based at their centres and at other locations in the UK, in addition to their ongoing longer-term outreach.
Can only single people join an outreach?
No, opportunities for couples and families are also available, though these are more limited on short-term outreaches. Contact us for more details.
How is OM financed?
OM is supported through donations from churches and individuals around the world. Donations can be designated for specific projects or ministries. Individual OM team members raise financial support to cover their own living costs; this support normally comes through gifts sent by their churches and Christian friends.
How can I give a financial support gift to someone serving with OM?
Online donations are possible through the giving link on this website. You can also give regularly by standing order or Direct Debit, or send one-off gifts by cheque ( payable to Operation Mobilisation) – contact the finance dept. at the OM UK office for details and for information about Gift Aid. In all cases, please remember to state that your gift is intended for the person concerned, rather than a general donation.
Are there any salaried positions within OM?
OM staff and workers are volunteers who raise financial support to cover allowances and other living costs.
Are all the countries OM works in listed on this website?
No, for security reasons. Please contact us for more details about specific countries.
Do the OM ships provide medical assistance and perform operations?
No. The OM ships provide educational and Christian literature through their onboard book fairs. They also run onboard conferences for pastors & church members, HIV/AIDS awareness seminars, programmes for school children and young people, etc. Crewmembers do sometimes provide practical assistance in regions of particular need.
