lsmythWhat’s a day like for a teen at TeenStreet? According to Northern Irish Lyndsey Smyth, it’s an experience not to be missed!

Wake up. Queue for a hopefully warm shower. Breakfast of cereal and bread (unless you buy your own stuff from town!). But it gets better...“ The morning meeting was a really good start to the day,” Lyndsey said. “It got your mind focused on the day’s topic. They really know how to relate to teenagers.”

Lyndsey said that, at first, it was almost overwhelming for a “country girl” like herself to be in the same room with about 2,000 teens from all over the world. But it was amazing to be exposed to so many other cultures.

After the big morning meeting, Lyndsey joined her small group for further discussion on the day’s topic. “It was good to get to know each other even better. It gave us that structure.”

After another meeting, Lyndsey and her friends were well ready for lunch. “It was good to get it, because you wait so long for it.” (YOU try feeding 3,000 people at one time!) Afternoons were fun, Lyndsey said, because she could choose to participate in a couple of workshops, go swimming, tour the town, continue discussions... or even catch up on sleep.

Another tasty meal later, and it was time to go to the “Throne Room” evening event. “It was my favorite part of the day,” Lyndsey said. “You had been thinking about the main topic all day, and it was a really good time to worship God!”

Capping an already full day, the late-night activities hall was a great place for Lyndsey to spend another hour and a half catching up with friends, enjoying snacks and checking out cool merchandise in the TeenStreet bookshop.

Now off to bed. Well, sort of. Excited minds find it difficult to get to sleep. But Lyndsey said that, by the end of the week, falling asleep was no problem. And next morning?

  • Time to do it all again.
