27 August 2010: Team receives unexpected helpOM International Generous shop manager shows team trust
The team in the south received a welcome gesture of trust when the shop manager who provides them with food rations gave them 13 packs from his own personal supplies. “We trust you,” he said, “We know that you will give it to the needy rather than keep it for yourselves like others are doing.” His contribution was totally unsolicited. After delivering aid to 120 families in a remote northern region of Pakistan, the team travelled to another district. They met the Assistant District Commissioner (AC) who helped the team prepare for food distribution the following day. He showed the team the area and the families who urgently needed the team’s 300 food packets. The team did not mention to anyone that they hadn’t eaten since it is Ramadan. However, when they arrived, the AC provided food for them because they are Christians. He also arranged accommodation for them (a service that wasn't provided to other NGOs) and provided a vehicle with a driver. The team was reminded of Jesus' promise that wherever we go, He will go with us. To date, OM teams have provided aid to 2,200 families in flood-affected regions of Pakistan. Medical update from the south In addition to distributing food packages to 81 families, 58 patients attended the team’s medical camp. They are thankful for a new stock of medicine sufficient for five days, and for a lady doctor joining the team for two weeks. Prayer Points
