TiM History

Teens in Mission (TiM) was birthed out of TeenStreet. The first TiM experience took place in 1998 when a team of about 20 teens went to Poland. Teenagers aged 15 to 17 years old took part in "Operation Prusczc". They experienced the excitement of God working through them and changing lives.? The team saw people putting their trust in Jesus through practical work, street work, sports competitions and conversations in a caf?. They were moved to see God answering prayers. It was clear that God could use teens to build his kingdom and as a result of this TiM was born.{slide=read more...}TiM training took place at TeenStreet before the teams spread out to different countries.? The next year 130 participants joined TiM on teams in Poland, Czech Republic and Italy. In 2000 a total of 134 participants experienced TiM in the Czech Republic, France, UK and Switzerland. The following year saw an increase in the number of options and participants: 233 people joined teams in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, Ukraine and the UK.

TiM started growing beyond the Teen Street setting and took place at different times of the year and in other countries in the world. Also, tailor-made TiM experiences were launched so that whole youth groups could go together to serve in other countries.{/slide}

TiM Values:

As TiM, we are committed to equip, train and challenge Christians Teens to reflect Jesus Christ and to use their God given gifts to bring Hope to the World with the following values to guide us: (click on each tab for more details)

{slide=God Time:} We value spending time with God daily and provide a "The Big Adventure" resource to help Teens in their time with God. This resource employs a method that focuses on Reading and Reflecting on the Bible, Prayer, Listening to God and Journaling.{/slide} {slide=My Walk:} We value being obedient to Biblical teaching, in day-to-day life. We apply this actively during a TiM Experience and try to follow up with Teens after the TiM experience. "My walk" is making what I believe relevant and applicable in my normal day-to-day life.{/slide} {slide=My Net:} We value a Support Group to help, encourage motive the Teens. We provide an accountability structure for Teens as they live out their friendship with Jesus. Every teen is part of a NET (a small group of 4 Teens with one adult coach/mentor.) We also provide guidelines (called "My Net") for a continual support group at home or in the TiM church. We encourage teens to have a ?Net" around them and to be part of someone's "Net", to have a mentor and to become someone's mentor. {/slide} {slide=Serve:}We value an attitude of serving. By serving we can demonstrate Jesus? Love by helping other people in a practical way. This can be any physical form of help (from helping the elderly across the street to picking up rubbish in a public place.) While the world around us is very much self-centred, Jesus did the opposite and gave His life for us."Serve" = Doing something for people!{/slide} {slide=My Support:}We value an attitude of supporting other people by being socially and emotionally involved in their lives.? During a TiM experience we do things like, visiting hospital patients, talking to street people and listening to their story, visiting and helping out at Old Age homes.)? We support our friends, family, church, community and world by praying, respecting, visiting, caring, listening, loving, and being around when they need us. Just like Jesus teaches us in the Bible.? (Luke 10:25-37) "My Support"= Feeling for/ with people! {/slide} {slide=My Story:} We value telling other people about Jesus. During a TiM Experience we encourage Teens tell about their experiences with Jesus. We equip the Teens on how to, and provide a platform for them to tell about our personal friendship with Jesus. "My Story" = Talking with/to People!{/slide}{slide=Training & Equipping:} TiM seeks to equip and train Teens, putting tools in their hands that will enable them to grow in their relationship with Jesus and reflect him in their every day lives. {/slide} {slide=Church:} We value the local church and the integral role it plays in the lives of all believers.? We seek to always partner with local churches and to support their existing ongoing ministries or to help them initiate new ministries, especially ministry with Youth. {/slide}
