Hope amidst Trial Her marriage—arranged by her parents—meant a new home, a new community, a new life. But Priya was on the cusp of an even bigger change. Soon after Priya was married, a friend gifted her a Bible. Priya began to read it. Within its pages, she discovered an unchanging, steadfast God who loved her. Priya’s growing commitment to Jesus began to cause her problems. Her husband and his family found it hard to accept Priya’s new-found faith. Seeking refuge by returning to her parents’ community only resulted in a pressure to return to her husband. Soon rumours circled that she was possessed by an evil spirit. "Within its pages, she discovered an unchanging, steadfast God who loved her." Despite her trials, Priya was not deterred from following Jesus. In fact, she was desperate that those around her would also discover the hope she had found! Slowly and sensitively Priya began to share her faith with her parents. Verses about hope and freedom began to cast out the superstition and fear of the local culture. All because of the simple giving and receiving of a Bible, Priya’s entire household was saved.
