Many of the rural mountain villages in Central Asia are home to herds of goats and sheep, yaks and cows.  We are looking for a vet or farmer with experience in herd health to support local people in various ways.  These could include:

  • advising on how to increase produce from local animals.
  • carrying out value chain analysis.
  • possibly supporting small businesses in the village or community.

Start Date: January or August
Commitment Length: 2-3 years (full-time)

We already have existing relationships in these villages through other agricultural projects and would like to extend into this area. Living with rural peoples always means receiving hospitality and sharing life and stories from the “Good Book”, on top of day-to-day work.

Requirements

We are looking for an adventurous person willing to live in the remote mountain area of Central Asia, learn a minority language and spend quality time with people in small villages.

Most people joining OM raise financial support towards the cost of their salaries/expenses. This is usually through gifts from home churches and other supporters. Training and support in this is provided.
