Each Church we work with has a vision to reach the children and youth of their community with the Gospel through teaching English from a Bible based programme. OM Hungary has the opportunity to assist them through native English speakers to offer English to their community. By working alongside Churches we assure the follow up of those interested in growing deeper spiritually after the camp is over.

Each day children will come to learn about the Bible and Jesus through English classes. This will include a morning lesson from the Bible and lessons of basic English. The afternoon will be open for games, songs, and crafts. Before the camp starts, there will be a day of orientation and preparation. Afterwards, there will be a team debrief and an opportunity to see Budapest.

Ministry Details

We will help you prepare lessons from Bible stories and the curriculum, which the OM Hungary team has prepared in advance, to teach the children English with the help of local believers. Team members will use their gifts to prepare songs, games, and crafts that reinforce the learning of English and of the Bible. We would also like you to prepare a power point about yourself before you arrive. It can be about your country, work or studies, family, traditions, to be able to introduce yourself, and share your testimony while showing pictures.

Participant Profile

You should enjoy working with children, youth or teens. You do not need to be a native English speaker but you should have a very good level of English. You do not need to be a professional English teacher.

Participants will be staying in the homes of local church members. It is also a nice gesture to bring a small "thank you" gift for your host family (i.e. chocolate, fridge magnet, or small souvenir from your home country). Unfortunately we cannot say ahead of time who your host family will be. Orientation and debrief will be at the OM ministry base.

Church members will prepare wonderful Hungarian food for you! Food before and after the camp will be prepared at the OM ministry base.  Please let us know well ahead of camp if you have any allergies or special dietary requirements.

You are responsible to get to Budapest by plane, train, or bus. We will pick you up from your arrival point. If you arrive at the airport (BUD), please advise us beforehand of your full flight details and arrival time. We will arrange all other travel. If you are coming from outside of Europe please arrive before midday on arrival day, we can also host you a day earlier if necessary.

How to find us: Wait for the person with an "OM Hungary" sign in the designated area.

Please do not book any flights unless you have received an acceptance email from the Short Term Missions Team.

You should have good health and energy and be fairly active.

British citizens do not require a visa for Hungary.
