Hungary: Ukrainian Refugee Ministry OM in Hungary is seeking to come alongside the displaced people from Ukraine. We are working in partnership with local churches and town/city authorities through children's, youth and adult programmes. Helping each person to navigate the trauma and grieving of all they have experienced through appropriate programmes and counselling. What is involved? OM Hungary is seeking to assist Ukrainians staying in Hungary for the foreseeable future. We have a desire to set up arts and creative therapy sessions for different age groups, as well as help facilitate Russian and Ukrainian fellowship meetings. The ministry will include planning and prayer times, everyday chores and meal preparation at your accommodation, organising ministry donations, helping in practical ways with cleaning and laundry, being an encouragement and a good example to non-OM volunteers. (excluding flights, insurance, any possible vaccinations & DBS) Ages 21+ (see Notes) Suitable for Participant Profile We invite participants who are: • Flexible, adaptable, and focused on serving others, able to work well in a multi-cultural team. • Experienced ministry workers and self-starters as this ministry is in its development stage and we need ‘pioneer’ people with motivation and vision to get things started. • Experience and/or training in trauma counselling, arts/trauma therapy, children's/family counselling. • Responsible and able to work under the authority of the local OM team and alongside government officials. • Able to communicate well in English. Ukrainian and/or Russian would be a great asset. • Compassionate, able to listen well and willing to learn more about Psychological First Aid • Willing to work within a cross-cultural team, determined to connect with people regardless of language barriers Accommodation Accommodation will be basic. You will be based in a team house. Be prepared to share a room (may include sleeping on a mattress) Food Meals will be at your accommodation, you will be shopping and catering for yourselves. The quoted cost per week does not include the cost of food. Travel Participants need to arrange and cover their travel expenses to and from Budapest, and insurance. Please do not book flights unless you have received an official acceptance email from the Short Term Outreaches team. Health Participants should be healthy, fit and emotionally strong to help people heal rather than be self-affected by the stories they may hear. Visa UK citizens do not need a visa to enter Hungary. Notes Price is subject to change according to the exchange rate. This outreach is tailored towards those aged 21-60. You must be able to communicate in English. (Ukrainian and Russian would also be beneficial) You may need an enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost an extra £15. Driver’s license (manual) and 3+ years of experience driving is an asset.
