The Kids ‘n’ Things Academy is to equip individuals and churches with the knowledge and skills required to share the gospel with children. This online version is 10 weeks, 2 hours each Monday. Dates Monday 9th May - Monday 18th July 2022 Apply by 8th April 2022 Cost £25 Ages 18+ Suitable for Course Summary During the course you will: Develop your understanding of the heart God has for children. Gain understanding of how children learn, to increase the impact of your teaching. Develop skills, ideas and resources that can be used to create vibrant children’s ministry programmes. Participants will join a small group in a virtual classroom for 2 sessions each Monday from 11:00-12:00 and then 13:00-14:00 (UK Time). The course will be delivered over a period of 10 weeks. There will be no session on the 21st February.In addition to two online sessions per week, participants will complete assignments designed to further their understanding and to create plans and resources ready to be used in a variety of children’s ministry settings. Participant Profile The Academy is designed for people who want to be trained and equipped as children’s workers. For example: You would like to create your own material and programmes for children, but don’t know how to start. You have plenty of enthusiasm but would like more structured training to build on what you already know. You may have some experience of working with children in a ministry context. This would be useful but not essential. You must have: An ability to relate to children and a desire to help them discover God. A willingness to grow and develop in your life, faith and teamwork skills. Good spoken English. Course details Theology - The sessions on theology look at God’s desire to have a relationship with children and young people. Using the Bible, we will identify the importance in teaching children about who God is and how to live His way. Theory - The sessions on theory will look at the processes of how children learn. Knowing this allows us to be more effective in our teaching. Skills - The skills sessions focus on a range of useful skills that can be used when teaching children about God in a variety of ways and settings. Resources - In conjunction with the PowerPoints used during the online sessions, session notes are available for downloading.
