Ordinary to Extraordinary; what is this all about?

Has it ever struck you that the key difference between the word ordinary and extraordinary is that little, yet all-important word extra?

We see powerful examples of this in the Christmas story as ordinary people like Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds and Magi did something extra to follow God's extraordinary plan for mankind.

As you prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus this year, your gift of any size will help to equip more Jesus followers like Sabita* to share the true meaning of Christmas with those who have never heard of Jesus, let alone the words of the angel declaring,

“I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the  town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2: 10-11).

Last year, Sabita heard these extraordinary words for the first time when OM workers visited her remote Himalayan village. The more she heard, the more she felt drawn to fall on her knees and put her faith and trust in Jesus.

After making her life-changing commitment, Sabita would walk for six hours across mountainous terrain every weekend to attend her nearest church. She longed to see a fellowship start in her village. Then, this ordinary young woman began to do something extraordinary – she prayed in faith every day for her family and neighbours. Within a few months, God answered her prayers when her mother and five other people in her neighbourhood put their faith in Jesus. With continuing encouragement and resources from OM, they are now meeting together in their village for weekly fellowship.

“I praise God for hearing me”, says Sabita. “Now we can grow together and support one another to share Jesus with others in our community.”

In these extraordinary times, we invite you to take part in what God is doing to mobilise more Jesus followers like Sabita by giving a little extra to show God’s love to people living without hope. Your gift of £10 or more will be like a seed that will multiply in God’s hands as it enables us to reach places where Jesus is least known and share ‘good news that will cause great joy for all the people’ this Christmas.

Give a little extra this Christmas and share the good news of Jesus
