The purpose of AIDS Hope is to bring hope to people affected and infected with HIV & AIDS by bringing the hope of Jesus to broken, poverty stricken families. You will be based in the beautiful township of Mamelodi.

Ministry Details

You will help with all areas of the ministry which includes, the Saturday Kids’ Club, youth discipleship, reaching out to those using drugs and working with the 30 children who come to our after school programme Monday to Thursday.

Participant Profile

You will be:

  • A team Player
  • Have a good command of the English language
  • Open to learn, to change and to be culturally sensitive
  • Have a love and compassion for vulnerable people
  • Be willing to be involved with all facets of AIDS Hope ministries


Accommodation will be provided. 


Food will be partly provided. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements. 


Participants must arrange their own travel to and from South Africa. Further information will be provided upon acceptance.

Please do not book flights unless you have received an official acceptance email from the short term missions team.


Participants must be in good health.


British citizens do not require a visa to enter South Africa for less than 90 days.


Price is subject to change according to the exchange rate.

Individuals applying must be 18 or over. This outreach is tailored towards participants aged 18-60.

Under 18's must have parental consent and be accompanied by a responsible adult.

It is highly recommended you attend OM UK's Getting into Gear preparation weekend in Shropshire either in the May or October before your placement. This is an additional £50 and is a weekend of training and preparation.

As part of our safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate for working with children which may cost an additional £15.
