Live Among Turkish Roma in Cobadin Village

Join us on a unique missionary adventure that you'll always remember! For one week to six months, you will live among the Turkish gypsy community, impacting their lives with your Christian witness, being Salt and Light among them.  You will be part of the OM team in the village of Cobadin, in Constanta- Black Sea area, about 4 hours from the capital, Bucharest. You will reach children, young people, and adults with the Gospel, through sports, kids’ games, teenage and women's meetings, practical work, and home visits. Live among Roma/Gypsies in Pauleasca

Join us for a unique mission adventure that you will always remember! During this 1 week to 6 months you will live among Roma/gypsies in a village listing their stories, music, happiness and disappointments. Together with local believers you may be a witness to other Romas, preaching the Gospel, organising children, youth, and adult evangelistic programmes, women's meetings, prayer meetings, practical work, and church services.  

Live Among Roma/Gypsy community in Padureni

Do you want to share the love of Jesus in a practical way and encourage local churches and believers? Come and join us!

If you are adventurous, flexible, and willing to be stretched physically and spiritually, if you want to be challenged in your faith and experience God in a new way through cross-cultural ministry, you have a passion to reach the lost by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then this outreach is for you. We recommend considering flexibility and initiative in serving Roma/Gypsy people using your skills. Please let us know if you have any special talents you can use, such as handicrafts, drawing, etc.

Accommodation

Simple accommodation will be provided, likely in a mission centre or the house of a team member. Please note that it may be possible for groups to share the same accommodation.  

Food

Meals will be provided unless stated below. Please advise us if you have any special dietary requirements. Come ready to serve with the team and the locals. 

Option 1 in Cobadin - A typical Romanian meal will be provided for you with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Sometimes you will be responsible for preparing your meal. 

Option 2 in Pauleasca - The Somebody Cares mission will provide you with breakfast and lunch, and you will be responsible for preparing your dinner, which is not included in the amount requested. 

Option 3 in Padureni - You'll have lunch with the Padureni team, breakfast you'll prepare yourself, and there will be situations where you'll have to prepare dinner as well.  Come ready to serve with the team and the locals, and let us know if you have any dietary needs. 

Travel

Participants are responsible for organising their travel to and from Bucharest, and someone from the local team will pick them up at the airport and drop them off at the train station or bus station. There may be an additional fee of 150 euros for airport transfer depending on where your outreach is located.  

Please do not book flights until you have received an official acceptance email from the Short Term Opportunities team.

Health

Participants must be in good health and physically able to carry a backpack, stand, bend, lift, walk and do other physical activities as needed. Everything you take for this outreach must be carried on your back.  

Visa

British passport holders do not require a visa to enter Romania for less than 90 days. Please note, OM Romania cannot issue letters of invitations for people joining OM for short term outreaches, therefore unfortunately, it will not be possible to apply if you require a visa to enter Romania.

Please note that it is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure they obtain the necessary visa(s) required for entry into the country that they plan to visit. We strongly recommend that all visa applications be submitted to the relevant consular website as per their specified requirements well in advance of your intended travel date, this could be up to 8-12 weeks in advance.

If a visa is denied or not obtained in time, we are unable to offer any reimbursement for flight costs or any other travel-related expenses. All bookings are made at the traveller’s own risk, and we advise confirming placement/outreach approval before making any non-refundable travel arrangements.

Prices given, when available, are subject to change according to the exchange rate.

Please note that there will be an additional charge for transport, with different amounts depending on how many people are travelling. 

Under 18's must have parental consent and be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children under 13 will be included on their parent’s application form. 

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost up to an additional £30.

OM Romania cannot issue letters of invitations for people joining OM for short term outreaches, therefore unfortunately, it will not be possible to apply if you require a visa to enter Romania but please do see other opportunities with OM.
