AIDSLink teams are working in the Himalayas to help people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) providing support, medical treatment, and counselling while seeking to restore hope.

The Work

  • Regular visits to local hospitals to meet people who need help, particularly those who have recently been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and don't know what to do.
  • Home visits to those living with HIV/AIDS, caring for them and seeing how well they are taking their medication.
  • Delivering antiretroviral therapy (ART) to these people from time to time.
  • Providing a place to stay at the AIDSLink care centre when people living with HIV/AIDS need to go to the capital for their hospital appointment or when they need intensive daily care.
  • Running family meetings for those affected that include Bible teaching, fellowship and sharing the good news of Jesus.
  • Supporting and educating children who are affected by HIV/AIDS if their parent(s) are HIV positive or positive themselves.
  • Taking HIV/AIDS awareness programmes to the villages.

Vision

That people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the Himalayas receive social, physical and spiritual restoration through this work. In response to being reconciled with God through Christ, they become part of a vibrant community of Jesus followers and this life changing ministry.

Annual Fundraising Trek

Once a year a team from the UK will put their faith into action and climb a 4997m Himalayan peak to raise funds in support of this work. They will see projects first-hand and meet team members who are working amongst many of these unreached people groups.
