The purpose of this outreach is to help the local churches in their ministries to the least reached by ministering to children, youth, and elderly in villages. Through this cross-cultural experience, you will have the amazing opportunity to grow in your faith and relationship with God.

You will be working as part of a cross-cultural team in partnership with local village churches and church plants. This outreach will involve organising day camps for children, visiting elderly and families in their homes, and possibly helping practically where needed.

Ministry Details

For co-ordinating the children's camps, your team will lead games, songs, Bible stories and crafts. When visiting people in their homes, you will have the opportunity to listen to their stories, share testimonies, give food parcels, and offer a Bible and prayer. Your team may be involved in co-ordinating a youth meeting and leading a church service.

Accommodation

You will stay at the OM centre on arrival & before departure where you will have your debrief. During the outreach you will stay with local families or in church buildings in the villages. Please note, it may not be possible for groups, families, or married couples to stay together within the different accommodations.  

Food

Good Moldovan food is provided. Sometimes you will have to prepare your own meals together as a team. Please advise us if you have any special dietary requirements.

Travel

You must arrange your own travel to and from Chisinau, Moldova (RMO). You will be picked up by OM team members at the airport, train, or bus station and taken back to the airport, train or bus station after the outreach. The dates above include the arrival and departure days.

Please do not book flights unless you have received an official acceptance email from the short term opportunities team.

Health

You must be in good health and physically able to stand, bend, lift, walk and do other physical activities as needed. Participants must have adequate travel and medical insurance.

Visa

British citizens do not require a visa to enter Moldova for less than 90 days. All other passports you should check if a visa is required.

OM Moldova are not able to provide a Letter of Invitation in every case. Please check if you will require one at http://www.mfa.gov.md/entry-visas-moldova/  and if you do, please contact us about this before applying. Please note that it is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure they obtain the necessary visa(s) required for entry into the country that they plan to visit. We strongly recommend that all visa applications be submitted to the relevant consular website as per their specified requirements well in advance of your intended travel date, this could be up to 8-12 weeks in advance.

If a visa is denied or not obtained in time, we are unable to offer any reimbursement for flight costs or any other travel-related expenses. All bookings are made at the traveller’s own risk, and we advise confirming placement/outreach approval before making any non-refundable travel arrangements.

Individuals applying must be 18 or over.

The autumn opportunities are for groups applying only.

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you will require a valid enhanced DBS certificate if 18+, which may cost up to an additional £30.
