In everything we do at Tshega our aim is to reach the local community as a result we are involved with many different community projects. We run a fully functioning school during the South African school terms as well as feeding schemes, working alongside a local church, sports ministry etc.
Participants will also be assisting village children with doing their homework, occasional physical work and dropping off donated items to vulnerable families.

Participant Profile

Participants should be flexible, hard working and able to take initiative.


You will be staying in dormitory style housing. 


Food will be self-catering though supper will be provided during the week. 


Please make your own travel arrangements. Information will be provided on different types of transport you can use. 

Please do not book travel unless you have received an official acceptance email from the short term missions team.

The price includes OMUK’s Getting into Gear weekend (GiG), in Shropshire, which you can attend either in the May or October before your placement. This is a weekend of training and orientation.

Individuals applying must be 18 or over.

Under 18's are welcome to apply but must have parental consent and be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children under 13 will be included on their parent’s application form. 13-17 year old’s can apply using this link:
