The STEP programme exists to train and equip Jesus followers who have a heart for the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region and her peoples. This programme is meant to be a steppingstone into further ministry among the least-reached peoples from the MENA region and among immigrants in the Diaspora.

Ministry Details

This short term exposure programme (STEP) helps Jesus-followers become disciples who make disciples within a MENA context. The training is practical and interactive.

12 week STEP - Time is dedicated to travelling in a pre-determined Central North African country. 

16 week STEP -  One quarter of the time is dedicated to travelling in a pre-determined Central North African country and travelling to at least 1 other Central North African country.

Participant Profile

We are looking for trainees who are well grounded in their Christian faith and have already undergone basic discipleship training either in their home church, at a Bible school or another discipleship training programme.


Participants will be sharing rooms in local apartments and/or hostels.


Meals will be in team groups in team accommodation and at local restaurants. If you have any special needs (allergies not likes/dislikes), please let us know. Please Note: Central North African food is spicy.

Participants should be in good health and for the 16 week option you will need to be physically fit.

Price excludes flights, insurance, visa & any possible vaccinations and is subject to change according to the exchange rate.

It is highly recommended you attend OMUK’s Getting into Gear weekend (GiG) held in the May or October before you go which is a time of training and preparation. This is an additional cost of £75. Please enquire for details.

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost an additional £20.
